Chemifloc awards Ed Storey Scholarship in Chemical Sciences at University of Limerick

We are proud to announce that Niamh Kilbride, a second-year Chemical and Biochemical Engineering student at the University of Limerick (UL), has been awarded the Ed Storey Scholarship in Chemical Sciences, funded by Chemifloc, a CSG Company.
The scholarship was presented at UL on Wednesday 3 December 2025 by Kevin Quinn, CEO of CSG, in the presence of Dr Ed Roycroft, Chief Science Officer at CSG, Deirdre Bennett, Chief People Officer, CSG and representatives from the University.
Supporting the next generation of chemical scientists
The Ed Storey Scholarship in Chemical Sciences is designed to support talented students as they progress through their studies and prepare for careers in industry.
Valued at €6,000, the scholarship provides annual payments of €2,000 during years 2, 3 and 4 of the recipient’s programme. Alongside the financial support, the successful student will complete their eight-month co-operative education placement with Chemifloc at our Shannon HQ in January 2027. During this time they will gain hands-on experience with our R&D and Engineering teams in a real industrial environment.
Building long-term partnerships with UL
For Chemifloc and CSG, the scholarship represents a deepening of an already strong relationship with the University of Limerick, supporting both academic excellence and industry-ready skills in the region.
We are delighted to present the Ed Storey Scholarship in Chemical Sciences to Niamh. At CSG, we recognise the vital role that highly skilled graduates play in delivering clean water, safe food, and many of life’s essential products. This scholarship is our way of supporting talented students, building strong links with the University of Limerick, and investing in the next generation of scientists who will shape chemical solutions for Ireland and beyond.
Kevin Quinn, CEO of CSG
Honouring Ed Storey’s legacy
The scholarship is named in honour of Ed Storey, co-founder of Chemifloc, which was established in Ireland in 1981. His commitment to technical excellence, safety and service laid the foundations for the business we are today.
By supporting students like Niamh, the Ed Storey Scholarship continues that legacy – helping to develop the next generation of scientists and engineers who will innovate in water treatment, food production and manufacturing.
